Thankful

After eleven days off, I’m headed back to work this morning, and I’m just reflecting on Thanksgiving and all the things for which I’m thankful. 1. My family . I could list each person and how I’m thankful for them, but then I’d fill my list. (Also, who could pick the order? And when would I end the list?) I would, however, like to specifically mention that I’m especially blessed with a healthy, wonderful son (who turns five this week). He is a joy to all the rest of us. 2. Health . Our family struggles with this from time-to-time, and my dad had some cancer removed this year, but with no chemo or radiation required, so I think we should be thankful for that, too. We are in pretty good shape, over all, and lucky to have all four grandparents nearby to dote on Mitchell. :) 3. Lack of financial distress. I know that things are tough for everybody right now, and we are “hunkering down” in some ways, too. But I can’t express how thankful I am to be past the time in my life that I ha

Christmas Knitting Done

I've finished the three scarves/shawls for the three Grandmas (Gma E, Gma W, and Maryann). Two of them don't read the blog, and my mom has seen the shawl already, so I can go ahead and post pictures. I posted information about the yarn and pattern back in July, when we bought them on the birthday outing. Haven for Gma E Haven for Gma W Haven for Maryann I suppose I have plenty of time to decide that I need to make some other knitted gift for someone for Christmas, but these are the only ones I had planned! If you look closely, you can see that I did the double-decreases a little differently on the brown one, centered instead of slanting. The pattern called for slanting, and I have to admit that I like it better that way. Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Where's Loopy?

Mitchell has adopted my Little Loopy, and he seems to disappear at times and then reappear in odd circumstances. Here is where he turned up, today. He seems to be in rather a lot of peril. Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Weaver's Guild Sale 2010

I mentioned that we went to the Weaver's Guild annual sale in the previous post, but I didn't show any fibery goodness. Well, here are the lovelies that came home with me: Bjorn Coordt Hand-Dyed Fiber in "Azure" Pi's Sister (We're calling her "e") Happy Knitting! Lisa Kay

First Ice Skating

I convinced the guys to take me to the Weaver's Guild annual sale , yesterday. Actually, I had managed to enlist Mitchell's aid in asking to go, because I reminded him that it is where we got Pi two years ago. He started saying he wanted to get Pi a sister. So, with two of us lobbying, Chris had a hard time fending us off. Once we were there and looking around, Chris noticed through the window that we were next to an ice rink, and he took Mitchell over to see. Mitchell wanted to try it, so the boys skated while I shopped. Good deal for everybody! I made it over to the rink before they were done and got a few pictures. They have a "walker" device for the little ones who are learning. It seemed to be a big help! If I had gone skating, I would probably need someone to carry me off of the ice, too! Bag Winner

The bag goes to Diane for the caption, "Can someone take a look at this? I think I dropped a stitch." Also, honorable mention for my dad for, "LisaKay's father trying to learn to knit." That's particularly funny, because I gave him a Klutz knitting book/kit last Christmas. As far as I know, he hasn't opened it, yet. Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Happy Halloween

Mitchell dressed up as a Star Wars Clone Trooper for Halloween. We went out early to visit some neighbors in Gma and Gpa W's neighborhood. Ready to go, laser-sited blaster in tow... set to stun, of course Daddy stuns the candy Are you imagining the Star Wars theme music?   Mitchell checks for scary monsters before approaching doors "Jango Fett must not have had a very big nose." "Not only can I breathe, now, I can use my peripheral vision to check for scary goblins and witches!" Happy Halloween, Lisa Kay
