Tappan Zee!!!

I finished my Tappan Zee, after much fussing with first sleeve... Part of my problem was yarn shortage. In the end, I have two pieces of yarn about three inches long. I had a piece about a yard long after the first sleeve, but I spliced it on to finish the second sleeve! That's cutting it close!

Spring Days

We dashed over to the east side of the state for a family reunion, and we got a chance to run about on a playground. Any opportunity will do...

Didgeridoo Sock

I keep a set of socks going almost all the time, working on them in the car and when I'm traveling on trips. They are easier to carry around than a sweater project. This weekend, I finished a pair I started in March. The pattern is based on Wendy Johnson's Serpentine Sock, only with more repeats due to a fingering gauge instead of sport. I had 29 stitches on the instep, four repeats plus a balancing purl on the end. I used String Theory Caper Sock in the color Didgeridoo.

More Easter Festivities

Last Saturday, we went to Eckert's as we enjoyed the warm weather and countdown to Easter. They had their bunnies and chicks and rides and general mayhem.

Happy Easter

I woke up before the guys and popped outside to set up the toy Easter basket and hide eggs. I thought I had plenty of time, but I had barely made it inside and sat down when Mitchell got up and asked if I had seen any baskets or eggs. I said, "No, but they are probably outside." He said, "Were they outside last year?" I said, "Yes, so you better get dressed!"

Leaf Peep Yarn

I finished spinning my Leaf Peep corriepaca. Here are the bobbin shots:

Four bobbins of the darker colors:
SE - Leaf Peep - Bobbins 1-4

Four bobbins which are slightly lighter:
SE - Leaf Peep - Bobbins 5-8

Plied together, one of each, to give 1860 yards:
SE - Leaf Peep - Plied

And here are two closeups of the plied yarn.

SE - Leaf Peep - Plied cu1

SE - Leaf Peep - Plied cu2

The alpaca content gives it a fuzzy look. It should make a nice sweater jacket!
