TdF Day 1

I spun up the purples of the Shadows Half Seen I prepped last week. The purple is about 124 grams. Happy Spinning, Lisa Kay

Getting Ready for TdF

Tour de Fleece starts Saturday! In case you don't remember, TdF is a spinning activity that runs during the Tour de France, June 30-July 22. Participants are encouraged to spin and post pictures of their spinning every day the bikers ride. (There are two rest days, July 10 and July 17.) If you are interested, you can find out more at the TdF group on Ravelry . There are many groups to join, and you can join more than one. Many groups are aligned with fiber shops. I've joined the Hello Yarn / Southern Cross Fibre team. I prepped two colors of fiber over the weekend, both using HY and/or SCF fiber. The first is an an SCF club fiber, of which I ordered extras. It is "Longest Night" on Cheviot, six bumps (24 oz.). I made fauxlags directly from the roving (no carding). I did hold some of the darker and lighter pieces together, though, to blend them just a bit more. I also prepped an HY/SCF collaboration fiber, "Shadows Half Seen" on Shetland. I separated

Bacchus

I spun up some lovely merino and silk from Four Rivers Yarn and Fiber , in the colorway "Bacchus." I have about 650 yards in sport weight. I started with fauxlags.   Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Alpacaffection

I finished my second Color Affection shawl. I used DROPS Alpaca and DROPS Delight . The yarn choice was inspired by another Color Affection project using that yarn in lavender, grey, and pink. The lightest blue in the Delight made a few interesting stripes in the finished product... Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Pandemonium

I spun up some organic merino from Two If By Hand in the colorway, "Pandemonium." I got about 310 yards of sport weight. It is n-plied. Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

SCF Carder Food

I spent some time over this weekend carding some fiber pieces that David from Southern Cross Fibre sent me. From top to bottom: Browns, 80 g Orange, 52 g Pink/Purple, 104 g Light Teal, 112 g Dark Teal, 88 g Pale Green, 132 g Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Insomnia

I finished plying "Insomnia," a Merino Yak Silk blend from Corgi Hill Farm . I had two four-ounce braids. The fiber is nice and shiny and oh-so-soft. It was a real treat to spin. I made fauxlags from the roving and spun it up long-draw. I was shooting for sport weight and ended up with more like fingering. I am planning to alternate it with a solid yarn to make it go farther. I'm thinking about making a Margot , with striping a bit like RaspberryAspalt . The color runs are fairly long, so I think the stripes will shade gradually, though not as gradually as the Effektgarn in RaspberryAsphalt. I think it will work, though! Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Return of the Swallows

The swallows nest above our front door every year. They leave quite a mess on the front step, but it is sweet they keep coming back. There seem to be at least five of them in the nest, this year. Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay
