Ravellenic Roundup

I finished four of my six Nestlets before I ran out of time on Sunday night. I got 85 yards of three of them, and 65 of the other. Here they are... I won the "Random Number Generator" selection of a Nest Fiber Studio prize in the Ravellenics, also. It was another bag of Nestlets! Happy Spinning! Lisa Kay

One Day of Ravellenics Left

I've finished my socks... ...and another spin of Nest Fiber Studio wool. This time, it is BFL and Silk in the colorway "Bingo Queen." I separated the colors and spun it in a long gradient. It is about 390 yards of worsted. I also started spinning the first Nestlette, the one in front. I believe it is "Twiggy" on Shetland. I'm not sure how many of these I can get done by tomorrow night, when the Olympics and Ravellenics end, but I should at least get this one... Happy Spinning, Lisa Kay

Desiderata Done

I finished my two sock skeins of Nest Fiber Studio's "Desiderata" on Mixed BFL. Each skein is about 160 yards. Happy Spinning, Lisa Kay

Ravellenic Update

I finished my third yarn, Nest Fiber Studio's "Block Party" on Mixed BFL. You may note that this is the same fiber base and the same colorway name as my last yarn, but from a different dyer! This time, I started with two bumps. I spun about 375 yards of worsted. Singles: Plied skein: Closeup! I also started my next yarn, this morning, Nest Fiber Studio's "Desiderata" on Mixed BFL. I just have one bump of this one. I'm going to go for a three ply sock yarn. Here is the first of the six bobbins: I've also been working on my knitting Ravellenics project when I'm out and about (not at my wheel). I've finished the first sock. In the meantime, the Ravellenic Games have begun giving out medals for completed entries, and I received mine for my first two spins. It is really just a blog badge... I looks like this: Happy Spinning, Lisa Kay

TIBH Block Party Finished

I plied Two If By Hand "Block Party" last night, washed it, and hung it to dry. It is about 218 yards of worsted. It seems like a happy colorway! I also received a TdF prize from Hello Yarn and Southern Cross Fibre. It is "vintage" Hello Yarn Rambouillet in the colorway "Burrows." Yay! Happy Spinning, Lisa Kay

Ravellenics Progress - Yarn Two and Sock Started

I started my second Ravellenics handspun yarn, Two If By Hand Mixed BFL, "Block Party." It is just one bump. Here are the bobbins, ready to ply. I also started knitting a sock from my Nest Fiber Studio handspun in the color " Analog Girl ." Happy Spinning, Lisa Kay

Opening Games

I did not get started spinning at the actual start of the Opening Games (3 p.m. local) because I was with Mitchell at the theater seeing "Brave." I did spin during the later-televised-for-prime-time Opening Games, and I finished my second bobbin of "Viola," this morning. This is just one 4-ounce bump, split between two bobbins for a 2-ply. This morning, I also wound my "Analog Girl" Nest Fiber to makes some socks during the games. I'll cast these on later today. Happy Spinning, Lisa Kay

Ravellenic Games

As if the TdF was not enough... As you probably know if you read here much, I am a great fan and participant on Ravelry. Well, Ravelry runs an event formerly known as the Ravelympic Games... except they aren't allowed to call it that anymore , so it is called the Ravellenic Games, now. It has several knitting and other fiber categories, including spinning, where participants engage in fibery activities while the Olympic Games are on. The 2012 London Olympics start on Friday, July 27th, at 3pm St. Louis time. I'll be spinning more-or-less daily during the Olympics. Oh, boy, another group spinning event! Yay! I have joined the Nest Fiber Studio team, and I'll be starting with the only unspun Nest roving in my stash, Viola on Superwash BFL. I also ordered some more Nest fiber in the update, today, which is a mad rush where you have to be online at the announced update time, clicking "refresh." Bingo Queen on Mixed BFL and Silk: Desiderata on Mixed...
