Sock Progress and a Kit

I've finished one and a half socks in the second pair of Mona's. Here's one sock for a progress photo: I also received my April installment of Romi's Pins and Lace club. It is gorgeous! The pattern is called Lisianthus . The yarn is String Theory Seri in the colorway "Larkspur." You may recall my first Pins and Lace kit and  project (which isn't finished yet.) If you are interested in Pins and Lace, the club will have a few "half year" openings available May 20th, at the "Pins and Lace" link, above. Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Ice Days

We got a lot more ice than we did snow. My work was closed, yesterday, and I took a leave day, today, so I've had two days holed up at home, knitting and watching, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" cartoons on DVD. I used my time to get a good start on my February sock, Monkey in Socks That Rock Lightweight, colorway "Jingle Bell Rock," and I've gotten three repeats done on the Spanish Moss "Pins and Lace" club shawl. Pins and Lace -- Spanish Moss

My first installment of Romi's Pins and Lace Club arrived, today. I don't think I can enjoy this pale green color. I plan to use a deeper color... and I ordered some JulieSpins 435 in a blue/purple color called Orion . It is larger gauge, which I think I'll like, and I think it will look great with the iridescent blue beads that came in the kit.

Hedgehog Fibers

Hi, And, the other thing that happened this week was that I received my Hedgehog Fibers order. It was a bit of a pick-me-up on the first day I was really sick... Gorgeous stuff... Silk Lace Cashmere Merino (Fingering Weight) Sock Yarn Merino Spinning Fiber Wow, I think I'm ready for another nap. (I've already slept 27 hours since I got home on Tuesday...) Shetland Lace Triangle Completed

Hi, Last weekend, I finished the Shetland Lace Triangle. Wonderful pattern. Wonderful yarn. :) I'm happy with how it turned out. As my second lace shawl, I think the pattern was fairly easy. The only snag was that the markers have to move one stitch to the side on several rows. The first time I came to that, I got extremely frustrated, trying to figure out why I was off in my stitch count... There is one stitch too few on one end, and one stitch too many on the other end, and all the motifs have to shift in-between. Fair warning! Previous post on yarn/pattern . Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

First Lace Stole Completed

Hi, I finished the La Luz Scarf ( pattern and yarn info ) last weekend. I met my dad at the park today, to take some photos. Thanks, Dad! I took some vacation for a four-day-weekend! Happy Independence Day! Now, I'm on to the second Embossed Leaves sock, the Shetland Lace Triangle (I'm in the fifth repeat of eight repeats), and July KAL socks... Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Embossed Leaves - One Done

Hi, I finished the first of the two Embossed Leaves socks (pattern and yarn in a previous post ). I can see why so many folks have made this sock (2999 as of this writing, logged in Ravelry). You can see how the leaves seem to continue into the toe, using decreases and a few purl stitches. It is a very clever pattern, and so easy to do. What a great combination of attributes! I have seen a few sweaters on Ravelry that seem to use the stitch pattern, but it doesn't seem quite as fantastic in larger gauge. Hmmm. I wonder about a shawl. Speaking of shawls, my dad just took pictures of the La Laz Scarf, today. I'll put those in the next post... Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Shetland Lace Triangle Started

Hi, I finished the pink La Laz Scarf . It is blocking. You'll just have to take my word for it, because the light is terrible in my craft room where I have it pinned out. I did take a picture, but it was not worth showing... I received my Sundara Aran Silk Merino this week, as well as blocking wires (in use) and the book for the Shetland Lace Triangle, which is one of the shawls in Wrap Style. The pattern is by Evelyn Clark , known for her lace patterns. The yarn is a gorgeous deep blue. It should go well with several navy blue items in my wardrobe... After finishing the neck chart, I took a quick pic: I did have to start over once, because I was knitting instead of purling on the back. Otherwise, no problems with the pattern. I like the leafy stitch pattern. :) Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

More On Lace

Hi, In case you were wondering, the pink shawl in the previous post is a pattern from Victorian Lace Today by Jane Sowerby.   I've also noticed that this appears to be one of the patterns not loaded in Ravelry. There are 37 loaded, but the book notes say 44 patterns. Perhaps if I finish this one and get some decent photos, they will load the pattern... I could ask. I wonder what they would put in as a title?   It is the pattern on page 100 of the book, which is just called, "Scarf," and then the subtitle is "with edging 21 and insertion 25 from 'The Knitted Lace Pattern Book,' Thompson Bros, Kilmarnock, Scotland, 1850." Interesting, but not exactly a catchy title. I'm using Fiesta Yarns' La Luz, which is 100% silk, in the color Champagne. By the way, another pattern that has caught my eye is Brandywine (Ravelry Link). The one that Roxanne from Zen Yarn Garden made in Serenity 20 is absolutely stunning. See it on her blog . I also happ...

Thinking About Lace

Hi, I have been seriously thinking about doing a lace shawl. I have a lace scarf (or stole) started that I began years ago, and I got it out and worked a bit on it. It is about half done. I've been looking at projects on Ravelry, and I found the Shetland Lace Triangle (Ravelry Link), which is really working its way into the front of my queue... I particularly like this one by Jared Flood. The yarn is really a gorgeous choice. I ordered two skeins of the same yarn,  Sundara Yarn's Aran Silky Merino , in a different color, "Flower Studies #33," or more generally, "Iridescent indigo leaning toward purple." I wonder if I can finish the pink stole by the time my Sundara order arrives? Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay
