Second Mermaid's Perspective Sock

Ready for Soccer

We signed Mitchell up for an instructional soccer class that starts in March. Last week, we took him to get some cleats. This week, it is just warm enough to get out and play, and Mitchell and Chris kicked the ball around a little bit. Isn't it funny how they look just the same in the last shot? Mermaid's Perspective Cast On

I cast on my second pair of Monkey socks for the February KAL, right after finishing the first pair on Sunday. These are going a bit slower, since I'm not snowed-in this week. (Alas!) The yarn is from Grant Creek Yarns , colorway "Mermaid's Perspective." Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay
I finished my first pair of Monkeys for the February KAL. The colors pooled just a little bit around the gusset area, but the striping was pretty consistent, otherwise. I don't think it will show much, in shoes, anyway. I like them! Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

"No Nap"

Yesterday, as we went out for our lunch outing and errands, Mitchell asked me how to spell, "No," and I told him. He seemed to move on, and I forgot all about it. As we got home, later, he asked me how to spell, "Nap," and I told him. When we got into the house, he went to the table where he had been drawing and picked up the pen. I thought he was going to draw, and I went about putting away the groceries. Mitchell came up and handed me this note. That is the first thing I've seen him write other than his name, without copying an example. The thing that impressed me the most was that he had apparently been planning it all day, and he seemed to be smart enough not to ask me the two words at the same time... I think I'm in for some seriously devious behavior when he's a teenager! Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Ice Days

We got a lot more ice than we did snow. My work was closed, yesterday, and I took a leave day, today, so I've had two days holed up at home, knitting and watching, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" cartoons on DVD. I used my time to get a good start on my February sock, Monkey in Socks That Rock Lightweight, colorway "Jingle Bell Rock," and I've gotten three repeats done on the Spanish Moss "Pins and Lace" club shawl.
