Hi!
Last fall, I picked up six perennial aster plants at a home improvement store. The instructions said to shear them by 1/2 in the middle of summer, which I did. I think it made a big difference, because they were getting "leggy." After that, they really filled out and became nice mounds. It delayed their blooms (because they were budded-out when I sheared them), but it was worth the wait! I have six of these beauties in the side yard. I owe a nod to my friend Elinor. Before she befriended me, I would have been lucky to grow a few blades of fescue... what a treat these purple blooms are! :)
Happy Knitting!
