Cassis Started

I received my Zen Yarn Garden club yarn, the Japanese Red Maple, last week. Here are two of the eight skeins of Serenity Worsted: And the one skein of Serenity 20 fingering weight, for matching socks: I started Cassis on my birthday eve. I'm six rows past the end of the collar, just starting the shoulder shaping and the front lace panels. Here's the inside of the collar (which will show): ... and the outside of the collar (which will be hidden): Happy Knitting! Lisa Kay

It's Rough Out There

Zachary regularly runs the ball to the goal. There seems to be a reason... After all, soccer is a contact sport! I'll stick to my knitting. Lisa Kay

Rose Garden Socks

I took a break from Rhombus to do a quick "Mystery Tour" sock for the Knit Sock Love KAL. The mystery tour deadline is May 20, so I could not take time to finish Rhombus; I had to set it aside and squeeze in the extra pair. These were made with the Sheepaints Meristella that I won for the Monkey KAL. I wanted to make a fairly plain sock, since it is quite variegated in color. There are also little bits of silver in the yarn. I think they turned out cute, and they were a quick knit. Maybe I'll make up some other hand-painted yarns in plain socks... so much easier than some other patterns. Ah, that is a good segue-way to mentioning that I am back to working on Rhombus ... the May/June KAL pattern. Clearly, Rhombus requires a bit more attention... :) Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Pre-School Graduation

Mitchell graduated from pre-school on Thursday night. I missed it due to work travel, but Gpa E captured the event in photos. Mitchell wanted to start with dessert. Mitchell's class had ten kids, and several classes graduated. Mitchell has to be encouraged to sing in public. Miss Cathy gave her classmates each their diploma. Finally, the treat! We went to kindergarten "pre-registration" several weeks ago, and there is a full registration in July. It will be a much larger environment than the small church group, and Mitchell seemed excited when we visited the grade school. He doesn't seem terribly phased by being out of school for the summer. Whenever I mention summer, he asks when the pool will open. :) Happy Knitting, Lisa Kay

Soccer Faces

We had a beautiful day for soccer, this week. I captured a few fun faces... Happy Mother's Day! Lisa Kay
