Lisa Kay Knits... and Quilts!

I finished my second 2012 Southern Cross Fibre Spin Along sweater. (The first one was Tappan Zee .) I posted the second SAL yarn completion back in March . The sweater pattern is Harvest Moon by Heidi Kirrmaier.   After finishing with Harvest Moon, I was already looking at the Idlewood pattern by Cecily Glowik MacDonald. I particularly liked the modified version with a shorter collar, made by another Raveler in handspun, shown here . My third spin along yarn, the "Leaf Peep" colorway, seemed well suited to make an Idlewood, and I've cast one on, already. Of course, I posted earlier regarding my Leaf Peep spinning . I finished four of my six Nestlets before I ran out of time on Sunday night. I got 85 yards of three of them, and 65 of the other. Here they are... I won the "Random Number Generator" selection of a Nest Fiber Studio prize in the Ravellenics, also. It was another bag of Nestlets! Happy Spinning! Lisa Kay

I've finished my socks... ...and another spin of Nest Fiber Studio wool. This time, it is BFL and Silk in the colorway "Bingo Queen." I separated the colors and spun it in a long gradient. It is about 390 yards of worsted. I also started spinning the first Nestlette, the one in front. I believe it is "Twiggy" on Shetland. I'm not sure how many of these I can get done by tomorrow night, when the Olympics and Ravellenics end, but I should at least get this one... Happy Spinning, Lisa Kay

I finished my two sock skeins of Nest Fiber Studio's "Desiderata" on Mixed BFL. Each skein is about 160 yards. Happy Spinning, Lisa Kay

We went to the Cahokia Mounds museum, today, for their "Archeology Day." They had extra people there doing special exhibits and activities. Mitchell particularly enjoyed trying to make an arrowhead from chert , which we were told was the most common stone in this area that was suitable for flintknapping. When it is dark or black, it is considered "flint." Working it into tools is a craft known as " flintknapping ." By the time he was done, he was giving instruction on the topic... I finished my third yarn, Nest Fiber Studio's "Block Party" on Mixed BFL. You may note that this is the same fiber base and the same colorway name as my last yarn, but from a different dyer! This time, I started with two bumps. I spun about 375 yards of worsted. Singles: Plied skein: Closeup! I also started my next yarn, this morning, Nest Fiber Studio's "Desiderata" on Mixed BFL. I just have one bump of this one. I'm going to go for a three ply sock yarn. Here is the first of the six bobbins: I've also been working on my knitting Ravellenics project when I'm out and about (not at my wheel). I've finished the first sock. In the meantime, the Ravellenic Games have begun giving out medals for completed entries, and I received mine for my first two spins. It is really just a blog badge...
